If someone comes up to you and mentions “MLM” or “network marketing”, what do you think of first? Depending on your past experiences or stories you’ve heard, you could be thinking of a very powerful home based business, or perhaps have visions of an outright scam.

Lots of people tend to associate this business with “Amway”, which is one of the original MLM opportunities, and one of the pioneers in the industry. The problem is, over the course of a few years, people promoting that opportunity (and similar opportunities) in certain ways has led to a generally negative feeling about MLM in general, and perhaps rightfully so.

Were you ever:

- presented with an invitation to attend a meeting about some wonderful MLM business, but when you asked a simple question like the name of the company, could not get an answer?

- invited to an opportunity presentation, and when you asked a simple question like the name of the business or company, were told something like “Jake Smith Associates”?

- treated like an ignorant child if you asked any serious, probing questions about the opportunity?

- attended a MLM business opportunity meeting and been almost to the end before the “A” word was mentioned?

I understand the reasoning behind this approach. Distributors were taught to be evasive like this, because of all the “misconceptions” (negative talk) about that particular opportunity.

The kickback to this approach was that it made this opportunity, and MLM as a business model, look very questionable.

Now, let’s fast forward to today. In times past, the scenario above was all too common, because everything revolved around getting prospects to attend live local meetings. This never was, and still isn’t, an easy thing to do. People are simply too busy with their lives.

There is great news here. Even though people are busier than ever, at the same time more are looking for home based income than ever before. Many are using the Internet to find opportunities, as opposed to relying on traditional offline advertising. This is a good thing for everyone.

Is it possible that MLM would be an ideal opportunity for you? Consider these things.

- do you like people, and enjoy working with them?

- would you feel comfortable talking to business opportunity seekers who come to you for details about your business?

- are you strongly motivated to build a serious home based income?

- are you open to learning the fundamentals of success in MLM? It’s hard work but well worth it.

If your response to these questions is positive, you should take things a step farther and consider what an MLM opportunity can do for you. Read and study the fundamentals of choosing a good opportunity, and get on the path to achieving your dreams.
